The Certified Leadership Coach (CLC) certification is ideal for those who wish to be a consultant who helps executives develop their leadership skills. The reason they exist is because executives are often promoted from positions where they performed well but did not necessarily use or develop the high-level leadership skills that being an executive requires. Leadership coaches work one-on-one with executives to develop their skills and enhance their careers. The coaching is contracted for the benefit of a client who is accountable for highly complex decisions with wide scope of impact on the organization and industry as a whole. The focus of the coaching is usually focused on organizational performance or development, but it may also serve a personal component as well.
AFMA Certification can be obtained either by Direct Application (for those with experience and/or qualifications in the area); or by undertaking an AFMA approved Training Program.
Direct Application: Those applying direct for the CLC certification will need to demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in undertaking facilitative one-to-one, mutually designed relationships with a key contributor who has a powerful position in the organization.
Training: For those wishing to undertake training to obtain certification, this course trains individuals to understand the four methodological factors that distinguish the coaching of super-keepers from that of other employees. These factors are: (1) a holistic approach; ( 2) deep behavioural insight; (3) the active involvement of top corporate executives; and (4) sustained relationships with the coach and/or trusted internal collaborator (usually a senior human resource professional).
